Fishing Tournament Raises Money For COVID-19 Community Response Fund

A gift came to Manatee Community Foundation from local fishing captain Joey Caputo, who created a tournament in just two weeks to support the community and to provide joy for fellow fisherman during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Saturday, May 9, the First Annual COVID19 Fishing Tournament took place and included 78 local anglers competing for prizes, with social distancing practices in place. After expenses were paid, $2,000 was raised for the Manatee County COVID-19 Community Response Fund, with an additional $500 added by the winning team led by Captain Marty Slade.
