MCF Disaster Relief Fund Update

Hurricane Ian hit the southwest region of Florida on September 28, 2022. Thanks to a generous challenge grant from the Bishop Parker Foundation,fundraising began right away, enabling Manatee Community Foundation to make immediate and meaningful grants to nonprofits serving those affected by the storm.
With more than 160 donations received, the reach of MCF’s Disaster Relief Fund was significant and we wanted to share the impact of your combined generosity. Thank you to each and every donor who gave to support this effort.

- $260,196 was granted to nonprofits serving Manatee County residents.
- 29 organizations received grants.
- Smallest grant – $2,000; Largest grant – $40,000.
- 71% of grants disbursed was to provide immediate assistance after the storm which included replacement of food and household items.
- 22% of grants disbursed was to repair infrastructure to allow nonprofits to resume providing services.
- 7% of grants disbursed was to expand services post-Hurricane Ian to manage either increased service calls or modify service delivery.
